1664 Cranks Review

I was thinking about what to do a new review on tonight when I remembered these cranks. I had them for around two years and rode them really hard. They were originally white and my friend sandblasted them for me, which I’m pretty sure led to their demise.
I loved these cranks while I had them, they’ve got a simple and clean look (Can’t find any pictures)  and are pretty light for the price. I did however have to tighten them about once a week but that’s normal for splined cranks.

I had been riding these forever and for a couple days I noticed that my bike was feeling a bit more…  soft than usual. I thought nothing of it assuming my tires were low. Then Sean pointed out  to me a crack going half way around the weld on the crank arms. Whoops. Glad he caught that before I snapped them right off.

I called 1664 about it, and they told me that I was the first person to actually snap a pair of their cranks that they’d heard of.  Again, I’m pretty sure that it was because I had them sandblasted and it weakened the welds.

Overall, I loved these cranks. This review might be a little biased seeing as they were the first big bike part I bought with my own money, but they held up to over 2 years of abuse and I had no real complaints about them. They’re great cranks from a great company and I would fully encourage others to buy them based on their simple and clean design and function.
Pros:
Canadian Company
Simple Design
Lasted me a long time

Cons:
Don’t sandblast

I would give these cranks an 7/10. They’d probably earn higher marks if I hadn’t been able to snap them.

Overall great cranks. If buy these you won’t regret it.

Also, here is a Eurofighter Typhoon racing a Bugatti Veyron. I don’t know how to do the super cool video embed with the picture, so here’s a link.

And here’s something lame.
